What Happens Next

Expect a short conversation about your project. The provider will likely ask about the size, the purpose, and the current surface. They may suggest a visit to measure and check drainage. Many providers can respond quickly, but availability varies.

Before the Provider Visits

A little prep makes the visit more useful. Try to have these ready:

• A rough idea of the size and shape you want
• Photos of the spot as it looks today
• Notes on where water pools after rain
• Any community or condo rules you know about

What to Ask an Independent Provider

Write your questions down before the first talk. Good ones include:

• Are you licensed and insured where required?
• How thick will the slab be, and what is under it?
• Will there be reinforcement, such as rebar or mesh?
• How will water drain away from the house?
• How do you plan around rain and summer heat?
• How long before I can walk or drive on it?
• What is included in the written quote?

Do Not Skip These Steps

• Do not agree to work without a written quote.
• Do not pay in full up front.
• Do ask about permits, especially for driveways and condo or community rules.
• Do compare at least two estimates.

A request does not commit you to anything. You can say no, ask for changes, or pause the project. Slow down, get it written, and choose the provider you feel comfortable with. If something feels off, trust that feeling and ask more questions.
